Birmingham Attorney Alan Duke
Attorney Alan Duke is an experienced business, construction, and personal injury attorney who brings a unique background in engineering to the cases he handles at Belt & Bruner, P.C.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Duke gained close to a decade of experience in the construction industry that included handling project management, estimating and payment issues. That experience has translated to success in his role as an attorney representing plaintiffs in business and construction-related litigation.
He also brings his education and experience in civil engineering to complex and technical product injury and other types of serious personal injury or wrongful death cases.
Mr. Duke is a native of Alabama who pursued a civil engineering degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He decided to obtain his law degree after dealing with disputes in his position with a construction firm. He graduated in the Top 10 from his law school class.
After graduating law school, he served as corporate counsel for a firm in Florida before returning home to Alabama to help start a firm, Hamer Law Group, that focused on construction and business litigation.
He joined Belt & Bruner, P.C. in 2015 after experiencing the personal loss of a friend because of a defective product. Through investigating the cause of his friend’s death, Mr. Duke met Keith “Kit” Belt and decided to expand his legal career to include advocating for people who had suffered serious injuries or lost loved ones to negligence.
Prior experience allows Mr. Duke to bring a valuable and different perspective to the cases he handles at Belt & Bruner, P.C., as well as a sharp mind and attention to technical details. He strives to stay at the forefront of not only legal developments, but also technology that can affect how cases are pursued.
Mr. Duke also serves as an adjunct professor in the Building and Construction Technology department at Jefferson State Community College, where he teaches Contracting and Construction Law. Outside of his law practice, he enjoys being involved with community organizations that advocate for and help underprivileged children.
