Birmingham Personal Injury Law Firm Pitches In To Help Alabama Tornado Victims

Jun 01, 2011 | Personal Injury

Belt, Bruner, & Barnett P.C., has been actively participating in the Alabama Association for Justice’s “We Care” program to offer free legal assistance in filing storm-related insurance claims for those in need.

Birmingham personal injury attorney, Keith T. Belt Jr encourages Alabama residents who have suffered serious home or commercial property damage in the wake of recent tornadoes to contact the Alabama Association for Justice’s “We Care” program. The “We Care” program offers free legal assistance with filing insurance claims and provides guidance on other legal questions that Alabama residents may be facing as a result of the destructive storms.

The Belt, Bruner, & Barnett P.C., has been actively participating in the program since the outbreak of 173 tornadoes tore through Alabama and other parts of the South on April 27, causing hundreds of deaths and wreaking an estimated $1 billion or more in total damages, according to a recent article in the Mobile (Ala.) Press-Register.

“All the people impacted by this storm have been in the thoughts and prayers of all our attorneys and staff,” said Belt, a Birmingham native who earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Alabama in nearby Tuscaloosa, which experienced a heavy toll in the tornadoes. “Our law firm has always been committed to helping individuals and families who are in need, and we are proud to work with the Alabama Association for Justice in doing whatever we can to help our friends and neighbors get their lives back in order.”

The Belt, Bruner, & Barnett P.C. has not been alone in the effort. According to the Alabama Association for Justice, more than 91 attorneys have volunteered their services to help impacted residents and processed nearly 70 requests for legal help. Scores of other attorneys have answered callers’ questions.

How the Alabama Injury Lawyers with Belt and Bruner Can Help

An experienced Alabama insurance claim attorney can help residents to review ther insurance policies and determine what damages are covered under their plans, Belt said. “Insurance companies are under a legal obligation to pay when it becomes reasonably clear that a claim is covered, but some Alabama residential and commercial property owners may find that an insurer is denying or delaying payment of their claims,” he said. “The ‘we care’“ program was implemented to help hold the insurance carrier’s feet to the fire to pay these claims.” To learn more about the Alabama Association for Justice’s “We Care” program, Belt said to go to www.alabamajustice.org and fill out an online contact form or to call (334) 262-4974.
