The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently recalled thousands of Graco Children’s Product’s “My Ride 65” convertible car seats. The recall is because the seat webbing fails to meet “child restraint systems” safety standards as determined by the Federal Motor Safety Standard. The seat webbing is susceptible to tearing, which increases the risk of injury for children.

Graco My Ride 65 Recall

NHTSA has recalled “My Ride” models 1871689, 1908152, 1813074, 1872691, 1853478, 1877535, 1813015, and 1794334. Only those units manufactured on July 22, 2014, with the webbing code 2014/06 on the tag of the harness are included in the recall, which will begin July 17. While nearly 25,500 units are affected by the recall, testing has revealed that only one batch of the webbing is defective. Graco will notify owners and dealers as well as provide a replacement harness at no cost.

Although no injuries have been reported thus far, a child riding in one of these models is at risk of being hurt because the seat may not provide proper restraint during a crash. Individuals seeking more information may call the NHTSA Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.safercar.gov. They may also contact Graco customer service at 1-800-345-4109.
