Mar 19, 2020 | COVID-19

To Our Valued Clients and Those Looking for Answers,

COVID-19 has impacted the lives of many in Alabama. As the situation continues to evolve, Belt, Bruner, & Barnett P.C. wants to reassure our clients and community that we are taking this situation seriously, and putting safety measures in place that prioritize the health and well-being of our clients and staff. We also want to ensure you get the answers and consummate legal guidance you expect from your trusted attorney.

As a firm, we are carefully monitoring and adhering to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Alabama Health Department, other government agency guidance, and staying abreast of any changes or updates.

Our partners and staff have been advised on the practical measures to help stem the tide of COVID-19, including regular hand washing, the use of hand sanitizer, frequently disinfecting commonly touched areas, and social distancing whenever possible. This involves using video and phone conferences and communicating via phone and e-mail to limit in-person interaction.

Our physical office is currently closed, but our firm is very much open and operating remotely to address your needs and questions.

We can meet in person in certain circumstances, but most issues can be handled via telephone or by video using programs like Facetime or Zoom. Our attorneys and staff are in contact with opposing counsel and working to move each case towards resolution. We are also actively settling cases with defendants where appropriate.

We understand the position you may be in without a timely resolution to your personal injury claim. Our team sympathies with this unfortunate delay, and we are committed to helping you find a solution.

We are closely monitoring all client deadlines, court closures, and will continue to keep you updated.

If the situation continues to progress, we will explore all available options to provide you with the best possible representation. This may include using video depositions, testimony, and e-document submission, and other tools and technologies should the need arise.

Alabama State Courts

The Alabama Supreme Court issued an order suspending all court proceedings beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 through Thursday, April 16, 2020. The details of these closures can be viewed here.

You can also stay up to date through Court websites:

If you have a mediation, deposition, or other case appearance scheduled, you should check with your attorney to determine alternative procedures.

Continue Medical Treatment

While it is always important to get medical treatment after a personal injury accident, we want to express the importance of continued treatment at this time. Many of your providers will be available via email and phone as well. You should stay in contact with them and follow treatment plans as directed by your doctor.
